I thought this would be a plain environment and social development story, but it turns out that the descent into full-blown national drug addiction touches everything; even organic micro-farming. This ran on Radio 4's Sunday programme last week.
The problem with the Long Island "serial killer" story, is that it's a depressingly high bar these days to get noticed, and to be genuinely feared. I did this for the PM programme on Radio 4, a few days back.
