Winter Miller's new play about Darfur had a "one night only" reading-cum-performance on the main Central Park stage last night. For such a grim and complex subject, the atmosphere was vibrant. Fittingly, the biggest cheer of the night was for a Darfuri translator who spoke before the show, about his delight at being in New York, after several years of horrific living back home. What do we do about Darfur if there's no political will? Organise evenings like this...It ran on the BBC (though not the 9am slot it should have had, thanks to a mosque massacre) several times on Tuesday: Download darfur_play_wells.mp3
